Same As It Ever Was

What it looked like, 3 days ago, on Wednesday...
What it looked like, yesterday, as in Saturday...
Spring approaches, we've come up out of the teens and low twenties of the past week to what felt like high forties this weekend. I hear the cardinals announcing spring, I wasn't expecting that just yet...

Not those cardinals...

This one -

Alrighty then.

I'm still watching the documentary series on the Battle of Cologne in March of 1945. Very interesting from a number of perspectives, if you have Amazon Prime you should check it out, be forewarned though - the first part is 80 minutes long, the second is nearly an hour, and there are two more episodes I've yet to get to.

Busy weekend, hence this video-heavy post.

First one pokes fun at our current President, I thought it très amusant -

The second, which I posted a few years back, pokes fun at the previous President. I was amused at the video, however, not so amused by the topic. Said season is upon us, next month is "Tax Day." I've already heard unhappy rumbles from some...

The last one really gave me a chuckle, damned near a belly laugh in spots. It unites 44 and 45, with an appearance from 43. Shrillary is in there as well, and guess what?

She is still not the President.

A thing for which I am thankful every day.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, I'm heading back to the Battle of Cologne.

  1. Well.....Thank goodness for cellphones. Completely forgot about DST and "springing forward". Phone didn't. Off to see the Big Guy.

    1. I was aware of the time change, painfully aware.

Got up too early on Saturday so was actually tired enough to go to bed last night at 2230. Then I adjusted my watch, suddenly it's 2230.

      Groan...

(Both cellphones and the computer successfully swapped over all by themselves.)

Sleet, freezing rain, now snow. But in very small amounts.

    2. Sarge? Didn't you drive a Jetta?

    3. Why yes, yes I did, an '82 and a '91.

      Oh, wait...

  3. To keep things simple, I call all the Cardinals by the same first name, Claudia.

One of the approximately three gazillion settings on my G-Shock watch is an automatic DSL change and the watch successfully changed the time sometime during the night. (and yes, the G-Shock is a rather large and complicated watch, but as Freud would probably have said, "Sometimes a watch is just a watch." :)

    Good post.

I think it's time to say goodbye to DSL.

    1. Claudia still looks good at 80.

I used to have a G-Shock, loved it. Now I've got the fighter pilot watch. Hey, it's just a timepiece!

    2. And what "fighter pilot watch" is that, Sarge? Be careful, be very careful.....

      :-)

  4. As Alaskans renew our annual debate on the dubious merits of DSL, since we have 12 hours of daylight now, I should point out that for most of the summer we'll have in excess of 18 hrs of daylight. It peaks for three weeks on either side of the summer solstice with 22+ hours. That's the months of June & July wherein it fails to actually get dark. So our question is, what daylight are we saving?

    1. Good point, what good is it if you can't make a withdrawal from your "savings" in the dead of winter?

In the lower 48 it makes a weird sort of sense, having experienced the year where we didn't change, kids catching the school bus in the pitch dark and other "horrors." My only problem with DST is that they start it too damned early! (March as opposed to say May.)

  5. I an think of no good reason why It’s necessary to to revert to having the Sun, whenever it shines, to be in my eyes as I drive to church.
I already dealt with that a couple of weeks ago.
Now I have to deal with it again.

    1. Ah yes, I will have that problem in about two weeks I figure. Just having it now, so it gets pushed back.

  6. That snowy scene sure is pretty... Your back yard is an oasis...

Was about 90 degrees yesterday, 30's last Monday.... When I was a kid, dad warned me about warm weather after really cold weather. Said the cows would lay down during the heat, and if it got really cold again, they'd freeze to the ground and die. So we had to get them up... They didn't like it, I didn't like it. So it was real ranching!!!

I felt that yesterday.... I just wanted to lay down all day!!!! Didn't get much done....

    1. The Missus Herself, by dint of hard labor and an artistic eye, turned the barren wasteland we inherited from the previous owner into our little paradise on Earth. (I helped - I picked things up, I put them down. Heavy things...)

Today the weather is a bit raw, chilly and rainy. A good day to stay home, though we did go to church in the morning, the rest of the day will be somewhat inactive.

  7. For some reason, I did not see the Trump video as a dig at him. A lot of videos have been made using his very expressive face that are just outrageous.

Here's one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=buafzJLWXIU pretty good dancer

And: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrRPH4gpKw0 Shows he knows how to use his little hands...

The badlipreading people are funny as all get-out. There's one I can't find easily that's a bad lipreading of Sarah Sanders going off on journalists at a press conference. What's so funny is it's not too far from her normal ascerbic tones. Love that lady.

As to the middle one with TWPE, nah, I'd rather watch a Woody Allen movie than have to look at him ever again.

Regarding the weather, well, don't expect the snow to go away until it does, if you know what I mean.

Always laugh at the Pythons, miss them, actually.
Love the lipsynch. Lots of truth there. Wish we were privy to what is actually said amongst our revered leadership.
