I'll see your toast and raise you three fingers of Bacardi 8 year old!. Happy Day for memories and pride in those we know and those we remember with so much love. Have a great day, the both of youse.
Now that that other business has been dealt with, many happy returns of the day to those who were born on this day; and may we always remember and honor those who gave their lives on this day ( and all of the other days ) to preserve and protect our country and way of life.
I can't always get to the trolls on time. That one is particularly annoying. Doesn't have the guts to use a real or even a pseudonym to post his garbage. An abject coward.
Mr. Goodrich, every man leaves a lot of himself in his children. I never met you, and I've only met your son online. But I would daresay you were an honorable man that loved this country. Your son does as well. He is informative and won't back off from a challenge. I've learned from him and am proud to be a part of his merry little band of miscreants on the web. You did well, sir. He is a man I look up to and admire, even from a distance. Rest well. We will all be able to compare notes at some point. I look forward to meeting you.
STxAR, I've known Chris since 1976 when we were both on "The Rock" and he was known as Chuckles. He IS an honorable and extremely trust worthy man which says a great deal about his Dad Robert B. Goodrich. (and by the way, the Chris Goodrich I knew back on The Rock looked exactly like this picture of his Dad!)
You can tell when a dad has really done a good job on his kid. I had no qualms about writing that. I knew it to be true. O n the other hand, "You can always tell a Texan, but you can't tell him much!!!"
I'll raise a toast to him (and several thousand others) this evening . We picked a good day to be born.
ReplyDeleteThat's right! Happy Birthday juvat!

Absolutely Dave. It's a day to remember.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the post.

DeleteThat aside, thanks Paul.
Well, that was the first time I saw a troll comment before you deleted it. Got rid of all evidence, you did.

I shall not suffer a troll to live.
DeleteTo those that have been gone nine years, and two and a half years and seventy five years, remembering them!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nylon12.

Russ, He DOES look like his Dad doesn't he. Course, the older I get the more I look like my Dad also. Must be a time-space continuum thing.
DeleteThanks guys.
DeleteFWIW, my Dad started looking like his Dad (my Grandfather) at a certain age. I'm getting there!
I have just noticed this, but I can see you in this picture of your Father, from the pics you post of yourself now and then.
DeleteHow Good!
Truth be told, he was much better looking than I.
