Eye, Eye!

(Source)
I would truly like to write a really good post today, however...

Went to my retinal surgeon on Thursday (today as I write, in the past as you read) and the news is good.

As some of you may recall, I had eye surgery back in October of '18. I won't bore you with the details here, you can chase the link provided.

Doc says the eye is healing up nicely, though there is a cataract forming (expected after surgeries of this kind) and it is rather thick and should come out. My vision should be hunky-dory after that momentous event occurs. That should happen this summer, I hope.

Anyhoo, both eyes were dilated and I can barely see the monitor, PLQ please forgive any typos.

So you get short rations this day, but I will leave you with a teaser...

I plan on continuing the tale I began on the 6th of June instant throughout the summer and right up to December, perhaps beyond. As I have an urge to actually work on "The Book," (as Fuzz suggested needed doing the other day) and the whole serial thing tracing the events in Europe 75 years ago seems like an opportune time to do so. Not everyday mind you, just some days.

We shall see.

Suggestions are encouraged.

Can anyone guess why I chose that opening graphic? Hint: It's two-fold.
Oh, if the troll shows up again, don't engage him, they like the attention. I'll deal with him.

  1. EEK! The Eye of Horus! ( I am told the Eye of Ra is the same design, reversed ).

    1. Some later traditions seem to indicate that. But if so, then that’s the Ra eye (left), when the Horus eye is the other one (right).

But it’s certainly not always the case that the two are similar, the ancient Egyptians believed a lotta things over the millennia...

    2. Horus is correct, at least that was my intent.

      Remember the hint?

    3. a bear - Roger that on the later traditions, that's what I went with. Also, my eyes are blue.

  3. Glad to hear the good news on both fronts! Dilated eyes do provide some interesting effects especially at night. Take care of yourself, looking forward to the expanded stories...

    1. The Missus Herself drove me to the appointment. The whole time I was nagged by the thought that I had forgotten something. The drive home reminded me...

      Sunglasses...

      D'oh!

    2. My favorite shades are Dewalt safety sunglasses. Stylish, safety protective (can almost use them for shooting glasses) and cheap at about $10-12 a pop. Available at hardware stores, (b)Lowes to be precise.

Ever since the eye doctor said me being fair haired and fair skinned meant that not wearing them for 50+ years meant that I have burnt out about 20% or so of my optical receptors, I don't leave the house except in dim lighting without a set. Got one in the house and a pair in the car just in case.

    3. I have a pair of clip-ons for the prescription glasses. Normally I don't leave home without them.

      Normally.

    4. Time for that second pair of cheap sunglasses you keep in the center console or glove box!

    5. Well yes, that's where they live, in my car. I need the second pair for the wife's car.

  4. I had the sudden urge to start a distillery and produce the “Rye of Horus” — but I’ve already been beaten to it.

  5. Good teaser.

What about the Eye of Horace?

And thinking about the Eye of Ra-ra-ah-ah-ah has resulted in me having a certain Lady Gaga tune stuck in my head.

Good news about your eye. I think a seye of relief is well warranted. :)

I look forward to reading whatever you choose to write.

    1. Hahaha! Now that's poetic!

Too bad about the Lady Gaga tune, I do like some of her music but dang, she's weird.

    2. And not very good looking once all the spackle comes off, either. Definitely a Monet.

+10 on the weirdness. But then again, it seems to be rampant throughout the industry, with few exceptions.

    3. As to the liquor brand, well, you can always hire ex-sex workers to work in your distillery and call the product the "Rye of Houris."

    4. Beans the 1st - Rampant indeed.

    5. Beans the 2nd - I like it, like it, yes I do.

  6. Good news is like good medicine and Modern medicine is a miracle. What they can do nowadays is amazing.

I got my eyes dilated when I was but a youth, and dad told me to squint while I was looking at the washed out landscape. I remember that being a weird sensation. He was a rough old cob. I helped him test the spark on our old mower... once.

    1. Oh yeah, did a lot of squinting on the drive home. 'Twas a brilliant sunny day.

      Or so I'm told.

  7. Cataract surgery! Yaaay! for that. The best couple of hours I've ever spent since gaining momentum on this ageing thing. It made a wonderful difference in my life. Colors return to brilliant setting and freeway signs appeared to have writing on them at night (I though they were blank, waiting for the lettering ;-) )

  8. May you have the best of good fortune in your upcoming ' procedures '. As for typos, Eye did not see a one of them in this post.

    Thanks for the post.

  9. Had the cataract thing on the left eye last summer.
The right eye still isn’t “bad” enough for the procedure.
Ironically, until I had the first repair, I was clueless as to how much vision is improved when it’s done.
I also make sure I have sunglasses when I go out.
I would say good luck, but ...you know?

Old Luftwaffe expression, akin to "break a leg." For the temptation of Fate which isn't in it!

  10. Ok, so I am late to the party, but in my defense we made a quickie flying visit to NY to meet the new grandkid...Btu CONGRATS on the eyeball!!! That is so very awesome!!!!!!! Let us know when the cataract surgery is and we can storm Heaven then to reinforce the importance of all going well.
