Behind the Scenes (Again?)

So here it is, Sunday already. Saturday was a bit of a trial, Blogger was misbehaving badly. No doubt some bright boy (or girl, but probably boy, women are so much more practical), has futzed something up under the hood.

I could post my normal post link to MeWe, got the link, got the leading photo and everything. On Failbook, just a generic link to the blog. No picture.

Commenting and answering comments was ridiculously annoying. Post a comment, then wait five minutes for the comment to actually post. I don't know why Gulag insists on "improving" things. An old adage in engineering is, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Gulag/Gargle/Google seems to ignore that lesson at every turn. I wonder if they've been bought out by a defense contractor? (It certainly feels that way.)

Anyhoo ...

So most of you no doubt noticed that we bounced from the Eastern Front and Heeresgruppe Nord, all the way down to the Gazala front and Panzerarmee Afrika (of which the Afrika Korps was a key component). Well, I introduced a slew of new characters in order to tell the backstories of the old characters. Yes, "carried away" is another way of putting that.

My plan is to stay on one front for a while, keep that story thread moving along, then shift to another front. Unlike Monty's pencil-like thrust, I intend to move forward on a broad front. If it gets confusing, just check the label at the bottom of the post. It will tell you the year and the front, sometimes the character being covered.

By the way, if you click on the label, it will bring up all of the posts with the same label. It helps me keep track of things as well. As in, "Hhmm what was the last post in this thread?"

This thing, if it's blue, it's a link.

So that's where we're at for the moment. I need to regroup and rethink. (Fancy way of saying, "I'm taking a day off.")
