We arrived at the manse after stopping for a fine meal at a local (to us) eatery. Enjoyed the look on the server's face when we told him that we drove all the way from Maryland just to eat there. Had a laugh when we told him that while we did drive up from Maryland that very moment, we were on our way home to Little Rhody.
Anyhoo.
Sat down to answer Tuesday's comments and check the stats.
Six million plus, really?
Looked at the stats for Monday's and Tuesday's views and realized that the spambots were once again flinging themselves at the battlements of Chant du Départ, and though they left a mark, they didn't actually breech the walls.
Sigh, lies, damned lies, and statistics ...
But here's what I picture in my head as to what is happening inside my computer ...
Okay, maybe not exactly like that, perhaps a reasonable facsimile?
Matt Damon and Pedro Pascal could not be reached for comment.
Sigh.
Yes, rather punch drunk after five solid (heh) hours of sleep followed by a 400 mile drive.
I'll be fine.
No.
Really.
Take care of your health, friend.
ReplyDeleteBeing retired is great, doing all those germ factory rough and tumble love muggings are funny as the bruises heal up.
Lack of proper sleep reduces your immune system fighting tooth and nail to keep the germ factories bugs from killing you.
Recovering after a medical 4 alarm fire is harsh and often crippling.
Concerned
Don't be. I get more than enough sleep, trust me.
DeleteSNIP Yes, rather punch drunk after five solid (heh) hours of sleep followed by a 400 mile drive.
DeleteOK.
You can't always get a full night's sleep, the ability to continue on nevertheless is something I'm good at.
DeleteRecharge those sleep batteries Sarge, being retired gives the opportunity to do that whenever the body beckons.
ReplyDeleteEvery chance I get. I think I "get" the retired thing by now.
DeleteHeh Heh. This happened to me last month (in much smaller fashion, of course) for reasons I cannot fully understand, because of course I post such controversial things.
ReplyDeleteSigh. On the bright side, it appears that the spam wall held.
Yes, the spam wall held. I don't get the reasoning behind it but as I commented below, there is money in it.
DeleteWhat do the spammers get out of that?
ReplyDeleteAnd that is the million dollar question.
DeleteIf they can find a way to leave a comment (it happens) and someone clicks on the link included in that comment (there are always links) then someone, somewhere, gets paid. Maybe a few cents per click but if you can get a million clicks from a hundred million spam comments, it adds up. All those "ads" we get bombarded with on Facebook and YouTube (and all of the clickbait sites), probably half (or more) are scams.
There's money in spam.
That's what Hormel said...
DeleteI'll go back to my corner under the stairs now.
😅 Dakota!
DeleteOldAFSarge, that makes sense! I was wondering.
DV - I actually love the Hormel Spam. Not the other kind. :)
DeleteSandi - It's the only thing that makes sense to me.
DeleteCrispy fried Spam, eggs(anyway you like them), yum. Cast iron, open fire ,even better.
DeleteGood with kimchi too!
DeleteOn one field test at work, I had (besides bread) cans of spam and jars of kimchi. With the assurance that none of my colleagues would pilfer them. In fact, most of them left our lunch trailer as soon as I opened them up.
DeleteOf course!
DeleteCongrats on 6 million! Even allowing for the bots, that is still an impressive number.
ReplyDeleteJB
Heck, it only took 13 years. But I'll take it, just the same.
DeleteThat's a LOT of hits, even with the occasional spammattack!
ReplyDeleteThat was a hell of a battle scene! Wouldn't want to be going up against those things!
Thousands of 'em.
