Grrr ...

Okay, I'm not a photographer, and the instrument is a cell phone, but I care not, I like the picture for the memory it invokes. Which is fairly fresh, I took the photo Friday night, the night of the full moon. (Beaver moon according to the MSM, for whom I care not.)

Anyhoo ...

Had a text message before I went out to Sandy Eggo, seems the CDC (I'm pretty sure one of those "Cs" stands for Communist, or maybe Confused, perhaps both) had decided that I was eligible for my Moderna "booster." Rather than get pricked prior to my trip, I decided to do that upon my return from that fair city out west. (Yes, I chose the word "pricked" deliberately.)

Last night (as you read this, some 6o minutes ago as I write this) I had my third Wu Flu shot. The nurse assured me that the dose was far smaller than the previous two. We shall see what sort of reaction I have to this one, I got rather ill from the first two and I'd already had the disease itself.

Another thing which went straight up my ass over the past couple of weeks are the announcements in the airports about the "government's mandate order." Here's what sticks in my craw:

mandate -

    1. an official order or commission to do something.
    2. the authority to carry out a policy or course of action, regarded as given by the electorate to a candidate or party that is victorious in an election
See where I'm going with this? The "mandate order" or "official order order" must have been issued by the Department of Redundancy Department. Which I suppose comprises nearly two-thirds of the Federal Misgovernment. Do you despise those assclowns yet? You probably should.

I had no idea that the CDC was allowed to make law, I thought Congress did that. But the airlines assure me that should I refuse to wear a mask, I can be prosecuted. Seriously? This country is so far out of alignment that I wonder if we can last another century. Feckless morons in charge, that's what we've got.

Sorry, didn't mean to rant, well, check that - yes, I did intend to rant.

Yes, yes, we do.

  1. Ya...waiting on the booster myself, not in a hurry to get it. Mandates have my teeth grinding also but a lot less after the news from Kenosha yesterday. Yard is prepped for winter and I see Badger-land opens for deer season today.

    1. Apparently justice still exists in some parts of the world.

    2. Justice would include Lefty Unbicepman and Jumpkickboy copping various charges, the DA and his shirtlifter disbarred and charged as well, and a similar broom going through the media, the JustUs department, Congress, and anyone else that jumped on the burn loot murder & lawfare railroad. Poor Kyle isn't out of the woods yet.

  2. I quit talking to most everybody about what I've been reading. I try and respect an adult's decisions. I just hope and pray you make it through okay and don't suffer any long term issues.

It's been clear at night down this way, too. I sure miss the dark nights of 1978. I used to watch the milky way roll around up there with ease. Too bright at night now...

    1. Any long term issues could be accounted for by old age. I don't believe anything I read or hear these days, too many agendas, too many liars, most of whom hold some gubmint position.

I remember being able to see the Milky Way in the winter back home. The air so cold and the sky so dark. I've seen it from northern New Mexico on a winter's night, couldn't believe how many stars I could see.

    2. I remember seeing it from about 45K on a moonless night about 200NM South East of Kadena. Just for the S&G's, I turned off the cockpit lights. Could see everything just fine. As you said, I couldn't believe how many stars I could see.

    1. Bummer. That seems to happen a lot.

    2. Couldn't see it in San Diego either- fog blocked out the sky early in the eclipse. Those further east or north had a great view though. Maybe I'll post one of the photos I was sent.

    3. Foggy when I got to Sandy Eggo, then hot and clear, then foggy when I left.

  4. In Breaking News: Joe something or other, a representative of the Federal Gobermint, has Decreed a Federal Mandate Order Law, the details of which are not entirely clear at the present time. Some who heard the Proclamation from up close, listening very carefully, stated that it had something to do with Custard,Hair Shampoo, Ice Cream and Incontinence. We're told the details will be forthcoming in a more comprehensive text of the Decree of a Federal Mandate Order Law. In the meantime, watch your Ps, Qs, AEIOUs, as Big Blubber will be Sketching you. That is all. Have an entirely uncertain kind of day.

We're living in a freaking Monty Python skit.

Hope you and yours will be healthy this coming week. Sick and holidays suck big ones, in a not-nice way.

  6. Sarge, I have been slow rolling the potential for the booster (mine, too, is Moderna). It was mentioned in passing to me this week that it was available to my group/age bracket/distinctive personality trait group. As all the data coming seems to be around curtailing its usage in specific groups (instead of data showing how safe and effective it is), it is certainly not something I am rushing towards.

The veil is getting very thin, indeed. If we last ten years I will be surprised.

    1. There are days that I think ten years is overly optimistic. It takes time for people to wake up and realize they've been lied to and manipulated.

  7. One thing that concerns me about the jab is that the guy who invented the technology says it's not ready yet- we're years from fully understanding MRNA work.

    1. The problem I have with reports like this is in the telling. Many reporters have absolutely no idea what they're reporting on. Who did he tell this to? Did that person understand the tech? Too many issues with these sort of things. Someone talked to someone. Sigh, they're all liars or people with a hidden agenda.

  9. I eagerly and aggressively sought the first, second and booster Pfizers at the first possible opportunity, and am glad I did. I think they improve the odds for us oldsters, especially with some additional risk factors, so that was MY choice.
I strongly object to any sort of mandate for anyone. Pick and choose what is best for you.

I do know that in this state, there is a HUGE difference in the percentages of vaccinated vs unvaccinated people in all age groups testing positive, getting hospitalized, admitted to the ICU or dying, with the vaccinated on the tiny end of the scale in every case. Here is a link if you want to see the data, which may or may not factor in your decision making.

Masks- largely security theater, on a par with TSA groping and bullying. There may be some small value to them, and I will voluntarily wear around large crowds of strangers.

    Let's go Brandon!

    1. I did what my wife and I thought best, based on medical advice. But a mandate is beyond the government's power. They have overreached, and badly. Hopefully they will pay for that.

      The masks are indeed theater.

  10. Individual decisions …. As a older retired physician, I doubt I will get the booster. Last time I checked the Johns Hopkins COVID risk calculator, I had a 1 in 200,000 chance of dying before vaccination. If Pfizer’s numbers are to be believed (why not, they vaccinated the initial control group - that avoids all those pesky comparisons), their vaccination decreases the risk of delta hospitalization 94% after the second dose. So, that adds another couple zero’s to the denominator, maybe or not. Anyway, individual decision.

    1. Indeed. The odds seem to be in my favor, but I don't believe in challenging fate.

Oddly enough, that’s a reason not to get boosted, as well!

  12. Yeah, we're on the other side of the mountain now and I'm not cheerful concerning our chances to climb back up to the peak before we roll down to new lows. If any country CAN do it, this one can, of course, but I'm still not brimming with optimism.
