In Orbit (Not Really)

Source
"OAFS' log, star date who cares, we're retired."

"I've ordered Earthship Blue to leave orbit around the planet Anna-polis 12 and set a course for the Little Rhody system. The Earth-standard Christmas/New Year holidays have come to an end and it's time for the crew to return to its normal activities."

"I've tasked science officer Spock to define what normal actually is. I get no response. He simply stares off into the distance ..."

Source
"I am reminded, once again, that he is not real, he's an action figure. What's more, not even one in my collection."

"Sigh, it's hard to get real crewmen these days."

"Chekhov, engage."

Source
"Hmm, apparently he isn't real either."

So yes, I'll have to drive myself home.

See you Sunday, maybe.

It's a travel day, time to return to what passes for "normal" these days ...

Sigh.

Expect a lot of whimsy in the near future. Maybe, I am indecisive and without a clue. Or a care for that matter. 🤔

  1. The muse can be a harsh mistress Sir. A few days of "normal" life and she will be stirring.

Meanwhile avoid too much distraction with those dopamine bombs known as video games and you'll be back to your yarn telling self soon.

Enjoy the family. Too soon they move on.

  2. Now, THAT was entertaining! Not that your posts in general, aren’t. Just a bit more humorous than usual. Safe travel home, Sarge, and a happy 3rd of January.

  3. Remember to use Warp Drive Sarge, not Impulse. Spock appears to have visited Planet Fitness when on leave.......:)

  4. Indecisive, clueless whimsy can be fun!

Unless it's how a State Legislature operates.

  6. I don't remember Spock and Chekov being that buff. Action figures must get more time in the weight room.

    1. I gotta admit when I first glanced at the picture of Spock, I thought it was an actual photo of Leonard Nimoy. It wasn’t until I got to Checkov that I realised I was spoofed. I never missed an episode.

  7. "He's an action figure, Jim."

Lord knows we could use more whimsy in our lives these days. Safe travels!

  8. For sure, getting home would be much easier if Scotty would get that transporter fixed!!

Nothing wrong with lots of whimsy, as long as it isn't involving the other drivers on your way back to Little Rhody.
Here's hoping you have an easy and safe drive back to home quarters!

    1. We're home, car is unloaded, we're safe and relatively sound. (I don't think I've ever been mentally sound, I have my quirks!)

  9. Crusty Old TV Tech here. Much wisdom to be had in Star Trek. "The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain!". Never be the Red Shirt. If you should note your Spock suddenly has a beard, run, and hide, you are in the Mirror Universe! Try not to get sucked into that big singularity in downstate New York as you return, or you may end up in the Delta Quadrant, decades from home. And, life is always better after a Saurian Brandy!

    1. We skirted Klingon territory, i.e. NYC. Much prefer the views over the Tappan Zee anyway.)
