What!?!

Pretty sure I missed that exit.

I've been informed that today is Monday.

The last time I posted was Friday.

Damn. Where did the weekend go?

Okay, I did get a haircut, mow the lawn, rake leaves, prep the koi pond for the winter and perform various and sundry other chores around the estate.

And the Missus Herself harvested the last of the cabbage crop and made kimchi. I really had nothing to do with that. Well, I did carry some of the cabbage into the house.

But still, there was plenty of time to post. And I did not.

Mea culpa.

And it's Thanksgiving Week. Productivity is down...

And I missed the last exit for Motivation...

    1. Thanks stevierayv. I was hoping you folks would cut me some slack.

  2. I don't suppose your wife would consider posting the recipe/process for making Kimchi? We get some bottled stuff in our grocery that the label says Kimchi on it, but Inigo Montoya comes to mind when I tried it. Some days I just need the real thing, and there aren't any Korean restaurants in our neck of the woods, a good Thai one, but not Korean.

    1. I'll try and convince the Missus Herself to reveal the ancient family secrets of kimchi making. Actually it's surprisingly available on the web of world-wideness, this recipe here is pretty close to how the wife does it. (But she does use sugar, apparently Dr Kim does not. Well, he is a doctor. Sigh...)

    2. Forgot something - how do you survive down there with no Korean restaurants? Thai is good, but no Korean?

      Ouch!

    3. When I start to get the severe Cold Turkey sweats, there are a couple in San Antonio near Randolph, so I make a run down there. Load up on Bulgogi and hope it lasts til next time.

    4. I get that. The kids have been fortunate in that they usually find a nearby Korean place. Other than that, it's a long flight home to get Momma's original home cooking!

    5. Oh, one more thing (again) just how long is that run down to San Antonio? I seem to recall that Texas is a mighty big place!

A "short" trip in Texas qualifies as "pack an overnight bag" in Little Rhody.

    6. Nah, we define a short trip as one you would go on to get milk. I live 10 miles out of town, takes me 15 minutes to get to work in the morning. I can get to the International Airports in Austin and San Antonio in an hour to 1+15 depending on traffic. (as comparison, my house in Springfield Va to Dulles was 1+30 on a good traffic day). I go to SA about once every 6 weeks to remind myself (get recurrent) on Crazy A$$ driving. Keeps the reflexes sharp you know? So, about an hour and a half to get over to Randolph Side for some decent Korean Food is worth it.

    7. An hour and a half is almost "pack an overnight bag" in Little Rhody. Residents of the Island of Aquidneck (upon which the mighty Naval War College stands) view with a gimlet eye any trip requiring crossing more than one bridge as liable to take one over the edge of the world and into terra incognita!

    8. Oh and did I mention that trip occurs at a legal 75 MPH?. If I head west on I-10, it turns to 80 within 5 miles and stays there until El Paso. 4 miles every 3 minutes isn't F-15 speed, but sure makes that trip (508 miles to the NM Border) a little more bearable

    9. 75 to 80 mph, legally? Something we New Englanders can only dream about.

Of course, you do have miles and miles of nothing in spots down there. But yes, the "stars at night are big and bright - deep in the heart of Texas". (I know, I've seen them!)

  3. Um... can I point out that there were three posts on Friday?
That would pretty much count for something.

    1. Yes, you're right! I've got that going for me don't I?

But still, nothing on Sunday? Nothing?

(As you can see, I can be very hard on myself...)

    2. We are our own worst critics. Somebody important said that. I think.
