Well, Campers, its been a very unusual week since we last talked. To use an Air Force Acronym for activities and projects, it's been "Alovnv*". But, that's ok, it just takes a lot of energy out of you.
First in the order of importance. Mrs J has her PET scan Tuesday (AKA tomorrow). With the Lord's help, we'll be through this "Big Adventure" with a clean slate. Yes, I know, regular PET scan's are still in her future, to make sure the Cancer stays gone, but a clean slate will reduce a lot of familial blood pressures.
As to the Big Week, (No Sarge it isn't THE Big Week in WWII, I mean where would we find enough B-17s to reenact?) this Big Week started last Monday with the arrival of The Rev and MBD and their two children, MG and Leon. The Rev and MBD were headed to a retreat in the Colorado Mountains. I believe it was church related and his parents attended also. The retreat started Tuesday and ended Saturday. So, with travel, Monday through Sunday.
Suffice it to say, having a 3 year old and an 8 month old in the house is a challenge. It's even more so with a 69 year gap between the youngest and oldest persons in the house. Sleep? We don't need no steenkin' sleep. Parents flew in today, Sunday as I'm writing this, Responding to comments tomorrow may be delayed somewhat. I intend to sleep.
All that having been said, I was very impressed with the 3 year old. Emotions and Self-control aren't up to maturity, but her intellect is pretty far up there.
She's gonna go far!
The 8 month old spends the majority of the day sleeping, but he's got a pretty good sense of humor as well as a need to explore. Yes, Mrs J and I have a hand off protocol when one or the other of us needs to do something.
He gave himself a shiner last Tuesday when we were watching TV. He walked up the the coffee table in front of the sofa, stumbled and fell on the corner. Fortunately, the corner was well rounded, but, nevertheless, we were concerned.
It's healing up nicely though.
You may have seen the Uniform that is required on the property, but just in case, let's take a look.
Yep, coming out in a flying helmet. He's also a pretty good eater for 8 months old. Most of it goes in his mouth.
Most of it! |
Most went into his mouth, some went on the floors where 5 patient dogs were acting as floor cleaners. The rest went on his skin, clothes and tray. Cleaning the kitchen after meals takes a bit longer than it did week before last. Oh Well!
But, Mrs J and I as well as the rest of the family are ready for a bit o sleeping catch up.
Peace out, y'all! I'm going to catch an afternoon nap.
*A lot of velocity no vector. AKA we were going hard and fast and getting nowhere.
Prayers still out for Mrs. J, last hurdle tomorrow huzzah! Like the photo with the flying helmet, that pup knew where the food was going to be (heh heh).
ReplyDeleteNylon,
DeleteYour prayers are much appreciated, thanks! It's been about 40 years since I've spoon fed a child. Forgotten a lot of the technique, Mrs J gave me a demo and another couple practice sessions on the young Leon. I finally caught on enough to feed the child and not the dogs, which was the pass/fail requirement for a solo mission.

Praying all goes well for Mrs. J!
ReplyDeleteThe kids are alright. (To quote a song, in this case they're also adorable.)
Sarge,
DeleteThanks.
They're two very different kids (aren't we all?) with their own idiosyncrasies, but we enjoyed their company. And...Yes, they are adorable.

Stacking on more prayers for Mrs J, and otherwise delighted to see folks doing good stuff for each other. May need to cut back on the dog food for a few says to compensate for their bonus rations last week.

JB,
DeleteThanks for the prayers. Very much appreciated.
Yep, normally the dogs meals disappear in a matter of seconds, this past week, they took a bit longer, don't know if it was the change in flavors from the baby food, too much food or a combination of both. Almost certainly the latter.

Man, I'm tired just thinking about having a 3yo and an 8 month old around for a week. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteGood on you for the survival of said children.
And prayers that things go well tomorrow. Mrs. J may have had all that done to her, but I know how much a drain it is on the cook/driver/gofer/spouse during times like this.
Beans,
DeleteThanks, I'm probably heading into the Master Bedroom shortly to check out the light restriction level of my eyelids. Other than the tiredness, it wasn't TOO bad in the behavior grading category. Or that's what Mrs J said about me.
Thanks for the last. It's been a pretty rough road. We'll see what will be.

Sounds like you had a great weekend (if a bit energy draining). Thank you for sharing the pictures!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes and continued prayers for Mrs. J's appointment this week.

Delete"Yes" on both clauses in your opening sentence.
And, Thanks for the prayers.

I'm sure they appreciated your stepping up to help out with the kids! And yes, bumps are expected at that age...
ReplyDeleteOld NFO,
DeleteProbably, and it was pretty fun for us, just hard to do the routine things the two of us need to keep up with, so, well yesterday involved a pretty good nap and an early to bed. Refueled and ready now.

Prayers up! You stirred memories of ten-year-old me being tasked with the care and feeding of my newly born twin brothers. Great training for a decade later, training Dads how to cope.
ReplyDeleteAnon,
DeleteI am sure that was an effective training program. I think Mrs J and I are well past the New Parent point though. I'm OK with do what we can then hand them back to the parents.
Thanks for the prayers.

With Alovnv, I thought you were throwing out one of Sarge's Russian words!
ReplyDeletePet scan prayers in progress.
Tuna,
DeleteYep, Trying to help a brudda out. I'm sure you're aware that the real acronym is AVNV. The IP's at UPT would tend to use that as a warning to the following IP. Quite a few of them on your gradesheets could shorten your flying career.

I remember a flight early in my training where I was NVNC.
