Family visit/Birthday Week! Ain't Life Grand?

 So...It's Birthday Week at Chateau Juvat.  The First of June is MBD's Birthday.  Seems like day before yesterday when the nurse handed me a swaddled little girl.  Our miracle girl.  We'd had several tries and all failed.  Doc had said if this one wasn't successful, no mas'.  Fortunately...Happy 30 something Birthday!

The Second is Little J's Birthday. He's the older brother and  has passed another zero birthday.  Wish he was a bit closer to home, so we could celebrate in person.  But, we'll make do with a video conference.  Maybe next year.

Finally, this Friday will be a zero birthday for some cranky old fart!  Yesterday evening as I was prepping dinner, MBD and gang, under the influence of the Diabolical Mrs J, came walking into the kitchen declaring an early birthday celebration!  Surprised the heck out of me!   I must be getting older as I usually sense when Mrs J has something sneaky up her sleeve.

Complete surprise!  Well done, Dear!

 On the "Reposition to College Station" front.  Progress is progressing!  Decluttering is going on full force at our house.  The realtor came by to check on progress.  Had a few suggestions, but was generally happy with the results.  Looking at the 2nd or 3rd weekend in June to go live.   We'll see what will be.

One of the "get it ready" projects was to touch up the walls where there might be a spill or scratch or something.  Took a flake of paint from the wall and took it to Lowes, the clerk ran it through a machine that was supposed to find the formula to duplicate the previous paint.

As can be seen, not so much. Dug through the partial paint cans in the attic and found the one for the walls.  Took that formula down and got a quart.  Testing it in places is next on the To Do List.

On the medical front, my ring finger, wounded in a fight with a Brown Recluse, is making good progress. Most of the black and blue stuff has gone away.  The surgical cut has pretty much healed, but the finger is still pretty sensitive.  For some reason it's much more sensitive if I whack it against something.  Who knew?

All in All, it was a fun week!

Look Papa, I'm drinking milk from a cup!

Look carefully, First shot at milk straight from a cup? RIIIGGGGHHHHTTTT!  Miss, could I get a straw, and lid please?

Peace out, y'all!

    1. Joe,
      Now that I think about it, I do take several cycles on the prop to get the fluids flowing in the morning and my commentary as I read the overnight news tends to be pretty loud soI might just trick or treat as a radial engine this Halloween! Thanks for the good idea.

    1. THBB,
      Thanks! Speaking of "terribly invested", I am terribly invested in Tylenol and Ben Gay. I suspect their stock prices are going through the roof. ;-)

  8. Glad to hear things are going along for you and Mrs J. I knew what a PITA selling a house and moving can be.

    I am also driving up the stock price of Tylenol and BioFreeze, which works better than Ben-Gay for me, and without the liniment smell, as I had the brilliant idea back in January to get some raised beds as I REALLY enjoy gardening, but I happen to live in a "high water table area" as the next door neighbor says...I could grow rice and pollywogs. Instead I want zucchini, green beans, and lettuce. So, back in January, when stuff was on sale, I bought some raised garden beds, and then in February, when it went on sale, I ordered some cubic foot bags of garden soil. Free delivery if they could bring it whenever they wanted. Free fits well into my budget, so not a problem...the 6 bags came the end of March. So I have been waiting...patiently...notsomuch...for the rain to stop so I could get into the garden area. Happened last week. Went to Lowes, got 12 bags of 50# each of sand to put in the bottom, 1 inch deep in 2 of the 8 raised beds, was able to put two of the beds together. Not hard, just fiddilly with each panel having 10 screw and nuts to attach to the 12 panels. Lots of bending over. Lots of lifting sand bags. Got 2 set up, am doing hugleculture so put logs and brush in the bottoms today. May be able to get dirt in tomorrow...depends on how much the standing water in the lawn drains down. We got another 2 inches of rain on Saturday...sigh...
    So, yes, Tylenol is my BEST friend these days.

    Happy Birthday to the entire J clan, and Happy Early Birthday to YOU!!! My grandkiddo's birthday is Thursday...he will be SIX!! As he will tell anyone who will stand still long enough to listen. Lol.

    Just a quick note...ya might not be quite so grumpy if ya quit smacking your hand and finger into stuff...just saying. ;)
    Have a Happy and Blessed Week with your family and enjoy the grands!!

    1. Suz, yeah, and the hand has healed just enough so I’m not constantly reminded of it. I’m right handed and the bite is on my right hand. So 70 years of doing stuff with the right hand has ingrained the brain to send the order to the right one. Stupid brain!
      Thanks

  9. The Good Word says -
    Psalm 90:10 The years of our life are seventy,
    or even by reason of strength eighty;
    yet their span is but toil and trouble;
    they are soon gone, and we fly away.

    However, you need to keep your physical current . Congratulations! Have a great day!

  11. Seventy is for kids. Eighty is a good number, try it you'll like it.
    Congrats to everyone who celebrates another birthday, either with great publicity, or recycling a previous number to avoid causing undue merriment at their expense.

    Good news on the medical front is always welcome!
