Well, Campers, another week older and lots of tasks remaining. Hence the title, Mathmeticians will tell you there's no end to the decimal definition of Pi. Presale tasks putting a house on the market are much the same.
ANYHOW! Our current house is in pretty good shape, we'll just need to fine tune the house (e.g. remove everything from on top of the counters and wiping them down) whenever a walk through is scheduled.
(Yes, Beans, we'll also need to load up the 4 dogs and one cat when we get notified of a visit. I'm thinking of a small, round bread whose name is also the acronym that describes this process.)
However, the last remaining major task is repainting the living room/kitchen. As most of you remember from last week, we couldn't get a close enough color match to just touch up the area.
Even though looking at the area straight on, is a different picture.
Since you can see the touch ups from one view and not another, well...we'll be painting the whole thing. Gotta touch base with our contractor to see how much he'll charge to do it. Or, I can resurrect my painting knowledge from back nearly 50 years ago and do it myself. However....There's Danger! in that option.
One of the major projects that Mrs J and I have been working on recently is the reconstruction of a set of chairs we'd found.
They were in not great shape when we found them. This past week, I've been getting the wobble out of them. Lots of glue, a few dowels to make them sturdy and stable, an awful lot of sanding and finally restaining them.
Then I turned them over to Mrs J to get them all nice and shiny.
Now...That's funny, I don't care who you are!
Here is hoping for a quick sale Juvat!
ReplyDeleteThe chair looks great!
Thanks THBB. Chairs kept me off the streets at night. (Or something like that)

Chair turned out darn good juvat and here's hoping the contractor only charges ducats and not DUCATS. Too early to mention pie there sir......and the local bakery is closed Mondays.....darn......:)
ReplyDeleteNylon, thanks. I’ll admit I had to google the value of a DUCAT of gold. It’s $373.53 per. I suspect he’s got several ( probably several severals) in mind. More’s the pity.

very happy to hear/learn from the probs you're having fine-tuning
ReplyDeletethe uxorious unit (and 1st son - a la Charlie Chan) are doing the tuning, as well as cleaning/throwing out/removing some 25 years of layered accumulation (any decent archeologist would be having a ball)
in my condition I'd be as useful as a milk spout on a soda fountain Coke machine
Boron, yep, it’s been 27 years since our last big move. I guess I just kinda pushed those memories away. Or maybe it’s just easier to move every 3 years or less. Junk has less time to reproduce or something. Sure is a lot of stuff we thought we’d need, but didn’t remember we had. The folks at GoodWill get pretty excited when we drive up. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when we actually pack out and unpack on the other end. I suspect Goodwill there will welcome us with open arms.

I'm in the process of cleaning and clearing out but please understand the seemingly useless have monetary value. Unpacked a box of books and in checking a small cookbook with a .50cent sticker where I bought at yard sale. Worth $42 dollars and a Robert Heinlein book of his sayings was $9.95 but sells now for $222. I now run most things thru advance search on ebay.
DeleteAre you refurbishing those chairs for your own use or for sale? I have watched those shows where a bit of elbow grease, some sandpaper, and some stain on a garage sale find can make a pretty penny.
ReplyDeleteThey’re for the old house now guest house. The short term rental income of the 3 dwellings as well as the general vista from the main house should be good selling points. We hope!

Moving, we hates it Precious.
ReplyDeleteBut when ya gotta, ya gotta.
Yep. Lots of Pita bread in the moving process.

Hey, no food teasers without recipes!
ReplyDeleteJB
This one was easy. Bacon, omelette with more bacon, jalapeños, Colby jack cheese, and a wife with a very creative imagination.

I had the cans of the original paint, took it to Home Depot and we had the same thing results you did.
ReplyDeleteOn the last iteration of this debacle, I actually had the code from the sample can with me when I went to get the larger can. Guess what happened.

The paint never ever ever matches the same. Simply because the area that you are trying to match has had sun, heat, cold, and other environmental factors affecting it since you put that original lovely color on. So, it really is just easier to just repaint, or re-paper, what ever area got dinged up. Not necessarily cheaper, but faster in the long run.
ReplyDeleteVery nice re-do on the chairs!! I have a set sitting up in the attic which need to be re-done...some day...when I get motivated...
Suz
Suz, you’re right! Just wish I had heard that a week or so ago. BTW that’s exactly what our next plan of attack is.

I hope the homestead sells fast!
ReplyDeleteRob, believe me, so do we!

Sigh... just pay the man, Juvat. Less hate and discontent all the way around (and less mess too)!
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
