Since Sarge is gone elsewhere to discover new and exciting stories or drink beer (AKA leaving his devoted readership to go Cold Turkey on his articles) I ran across a post of a fellow blogger and frequent commenter that has an interesting post on how the Spitfire won the war single handedly in Europe.

"Sadly, reports came back that the beer tasted of Avgas, regardless of how much cleaning had been carried out. "

i think the light frame made the English plane better than the German.
ReplyDeleteAnon,
DeleteCould be some truth there. Maneuverability is important. But fighting over your own turf has an advantage also. A Brit bailing out over England has a medical checkup, a glass of beer ( yeah right A glass) and goes back up the next day a bit wiser. His adversary gets to sit out the war in a POW camp in Canada, provided he isn’t sunk by one of his U- boat pals on the way over.
